What you will need:
LACE
If your fireplace is in need of new stockings,
this one is a great option! Super Saver
Fair Isle colorways knit up in fun patterns,
without having to change colors! Top it off
with a festive Fur yarn trim and your halls
will be decked in no time
Stocking measures 20″ (51 cm) long
and 15″ (38 cm) around leg.
SPECIAL TECHNIQUE
w&t (wrap and turn): slip next stitch
purlwise to right needle, bring yarn
between needles, slip st back to left
needle unworked; turn work.
LEG
With A and double-pointed needles,
cast on 56 sts. Place marker and join
into the round, being careful not to
twist sts.
Round 1: Knit around.
Round 2: Purl around.
Rounds 3-45: Knit around.
HEEL
*Short Row 1: K28, turn; place remaining
28 sts on st holder.
Short Row 2: P27, w&t.
Short Row 3: K26, w&t.
Short Row 4: P25, w&t.
Short Row 5: Knit to 1 st before
previously wrapped st, w&t.
Short Row 6: Purl to 1 st before
previously wrapped st, w&t.
Repeat Short Rows 5 & 6 until 10 sts
remain unwrapped in the center.
Next row: Knit to first wrapped st, knit
wrap with next st, turn.
Next row: Purl to first wrapped st, purl
wrap with next st, turn.
Repeat the last 2 rows until all 28 sts
have been worked.**
FOOT
Transfer held sts back onto needle.
Working in the round, knit 24 rounds
even.
TOE
Repeat from * to ** on first 28 Toe sts,
placing remaining 28 instep sts on st
holder.
Cut yarn, leaving a long tail for grafting
or seaming.
FINISHING
Transfer held sts back onto needle. With
yarn needle, graft or seam last row
of Toe to Foot instep sts. Break yarn,
leaving a 6″ (15.25 cm) tail.
Cuff
With B and circular needle, pick up st in
first cast-on st, skip next st, *pick up st
in next cast-on st, skip next st; repeat
from * around cuff – 28 sts.
Next round: *Knit through the back
loop; repeat from * around.
Next round: Purl around.
Bind off all sts.
Break yarn, leaving a 6″ (15.25 cm) tail.
Hanging Loop (Optional)
With crochet hook and wrong side of
stocking facing, join A at Leg cast-on
edge and pull up a loop. Ch 13, slip st to
first st to create hanging loop. Fasten
off, leaving a 6″ (15.25 cm) tail.
With yarn needle, weave in all loose
ends. Steam lightly if desired.
